Can you see the daffodils coming up?

I guess if we can't enjoy the snow, we at least get to play outside in the nice weather!
When we got back from Utah, Tanner and I decided it was finally time to redo our basement! When we moved into our house, the basement floor was just painted cement. We had a rug down there, but it didn't provide a lot of play space for a little baby. The paint was also really dark (I thought it was blue and Tanner thought it was gray -- either way, it was dark) so it made it feel more like a cave.

It took me forever to find a picture of the basement from before, so obviously we didn't hang out down there a ton!
We picked out a lighter paint color, fixed up some of the crown molding, repainted the doors, put in tile in front of the doors, and ordered carpet! The night before our carpet was supposed to be installed, Tanner and I decided we wanted a cupboard under the stairs. So Tanner pried a stair off, found where he could cut, and cut us a cupboard! Now we not only have more storage, but Kate can pretend to be Harry Potter! :)
We are LOVING our new basement! Having it all carpeted adds so much open space for us to hang out in. We got it done just in time too. The night we finished our carpet, Kate took 12 steps on her own and has only got braver every day!

Kate and Daddy playing in the cupboard under the stairs. (We hadn't put the door on yet when this picture was taken if you're wondering why it's sitting next to the opening.)
Oh, and Kate has discovered how awesome dirt, leaves, sticks, and rocks are, and we can't keep her out of them! So if you see her with a mouth full of dirt, just know she's getting plenty of minerals!
